James R. Fair was born in 1951 in Texas and grew up Saint Louis, Missouri. Jim trained in art and architecture at Rice University, spending a year between his four and fifth years of schooling touring in Europe and working with John Habraken in the Netherlands.
Upon graduation he began a thirty year career in architecture, designing buildings in many regions of the United States and abroad. His architectural work can be found at www.jrf-a.com
In 2006 Jim relocated to Upstate New York where he has found both the opportunity and a beautiful setting to refocus his energies on painting. He has been helped by local Binghamton artists Shirley Campbell, Kathy Smith, Chuck Williamson and Orazio Salati. The painting shown on this page won 2nd Place for Oil Paintings at the FASST 2008 Annual Show.
